Hello, brilliant humans! 👋
This month's issue is for the people who make learning happen. PLUS something I made specially for us trainers! Read till the end to find out!
The VET trainers and assessors in Australia navigating RTO compliance. The corporate facilitators running workshops for audiences who'd rather be elsewhere. The instructional designers building courses at midnight. The para-academics quietly holding up entire college programmes. The course creators figuring out the software as they go.
This one is for you.
May's deep dive is into the world of professional development for trainers themselves, because the people who upskill everyone else deserve their own stack of free wins too.
Let's get into it. 🚀
Australia: VET Sector & RTO Practitioners
VET Development Centre (VDC) - Free Professional Learning Program (Victoria): The VDC is funded by the Victorian Skills Authority to deliver completely free PD to Victorian trainers and assessors at Skills First providers, TAFEs, and ACFE Learn Local providers!
Covers assessment essentials, AI in training, mapping & validation, teaching and learning strategies, compliance under the 2025 RTO Standards, and more. If you're in Victoria: this is your go-to. Link: vdc.edu.au/funded-opportunitiesASQA Youtube - Free Videos, Webinars & Guidance Resources: Australia's national training regulator publishes a growing library of free webinars and recorded sessions covering trainer/assessor compliance, assessment validation, online delivery standards, and the 2025 Standards for RTOs. Especially useful now that the 2025 Standards are in effect. Worth bookmarking and checking regularly. Link: https://www.youtube.com/@ASQAvideos/videos
Velg Training - Free Member Resources & Webinars: A well-known name in the VET sector. While their full membership is paid, they offer a number of free webinar recordings and resources, including a currently free (until 31 May 2026!) online module on Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS). If you've been putting off understanding the TAS requirements, this is your moment. Membership also unlocks their full CPD library and "VET Experts" compliance chat. Link: velgtraining.com
My tip: If you're in VIC, start with VDC - their funded programs are genuinely high quality and cost you literally nothing. For the rest of Australia, ASQA's Youtube library is seriously underused and worth your time.
Facilitation & Delivery Skills (Corporate & General Trainers)
For trainers who work in corporate, business, or any face-to-face environment, whether you're new to the room or a seasoned facilitator looking to sharpen your edge.
Moodle Academy - Educator Learning Pathway (Free Courses + Optional Cert): Moodle is one of the most widely used LMS platforms globally (used heavily across Australian TAFEs, universities, and RTOs). Their free Academy offers a full Educator Learning Pathway designed for teachers, workplace trainers, and instructional designers - covering teaching with Moodle from basics to advanced. Individual courses earn you a free badge; completing the full pathway prepares you for the paid Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) if you want to go further.

📔 Something I Made for You (& Me!)
If any of the above has you thinking about how you show up in the actual training delivery room - not just your credentials, but your practice - I want to tell you about something I built.
The Trainer's Planner is a spiral-bound planner I designed specifically for trainers during real sessions.
A lot of planners out there are made for school teachers or early childhood educators.
The ones for us trainers are the most compliance-heavy, rigid, and incredibly NOT user-friendly big books that are just awkward to use once you're actually facilitating.
This one takes a different approach. It's simple, calm, and structured in a way that supports real-time delivery, so you can stay organised, adapt when the session takes a different turn, and do a quick reflection after without it feeling like paperwork. The whole thing lays flat so you can refer to your notes as you’re planning the next session!

Built for VET trainers, corporate facilitators, and anyone who delivers sessions regularly and wants to get better at it without adding extra complexity to their day.
Which category spoke to you most this month - facilitation, ID tools, VET compliance, or something else? Hit reply and let me know - I read every response, and May's answers will shape June's issue!
Happy training, everyone. 😊
P.S. Know a trainer who'd find this useful? Forward it on - this newsletter exists entirely on word of mouth.
